Axel Rauschmayer wrote a quick post listing tools for the JavaScript ecosystem that aren't written in JavaScript (Rust and go are the popular languages these days).

That's one for the bookmarks! For me, the main reason for changing tools can only be better performance. Whenever I'm crunching JavaScript bundles, and it takes more than a few seconds, I ask myself if there is a better tool for doing the job faster.

So far, I played briefly with esbuild as a JavaScript bundler (but it doesn't seem to be feature complete yet) and volta as an nvm alternative. I didn't make the switch yet.

Let's see how all these tools evolve; I'm sure up for a speedup here and there.
